I've moved your post to Technical Issues where it can be discussed further, as SL Answers isn't the right place. You can also contact support for help. :)

I really hate to be a forum sniper but that was an VERY hard post to read. Run on sentences, no real punctuation to speak of, and Having To Capitalize Every Word was very distracting. However lets see if I can help.

First of all, no you really DO NOT need a very advanced PC to run Second Life. The machine you have is rather mundane, but I have slower PCs than yours, that run SL just fine.

At most I'd suggest uninstalling SL, and reinstall your video card drivers, your chipset drivers, and perhaps sound drivers. You may also want to double check and make sure you not running any weird apps in the background that's making SL sluggish, like a virus scan, or some distributed network project like Bit Torrent, folding at home, etc. Lastly always check for spyware, and viruses.

Last thing you should check is your connection to the internet might be screwy. Power cycle your cable/DSL modem and see if that helps. Try to change your IP if possible that often helps clear out a lot of network congestion problems.

Good luck.

If you're really desperate you could try a complete reinstall of Windows, so format your C:\ drive and do a fresh reinstall.
It isn't a sophisticated solution, but it has done the trick for me on some games in the past.
I'm pretty good with PC's but somethimes there is "something" wrong and then even I have to reinstall Windows.
(it looks to me English isnt your first language, no problem, I'm not english too, but I agree with Hugsalot. Your post is very hard to read...)

My previously good SL performance went to hell a while back. I found that my SBC Yahoo DSL connection had gotten VERY flakey, with a lot of packet loss and erratic speeds, sometimes as low as 26 kbps! When I found out it was that horrible, I dumped it and got cable, and now SL is working better than ever for me. Try this bandwidth test: http://reviews.cnet.com/7004-7254_7-0.html

Edit: Try it more than once. If I had not retested I wouldn't have seen what was going on.

Could you please say again how much memory there is on your video card, and then how much system RAM you have? I am a little confused by the way you worded it in your first post, but I'm not a very big techy! What you just described really sounds to me like problems I had with my slow DSL, but even more like the problems I had before I added RAM to my system. The result of the test you tried looks good, so it doesn't look like your DSL is the problem (but you can always take the test again).

Edit: BTW, you said you're English. So are you in the UK? Because that DOES make a difference. It's my understanding that the farther away you are from the servers that run SL, the more "latency" you will have. That could be a big part of the problem.

Edit again: Scratch that. There can't possibly be SBC Yahoo in the UK. Doh! I'm sorry, that was my last guess as to what might be wrong. I hope someone with mightier geek-fu than mine can help you.

I don't see what the problem could be, either. What other programs do you have open while you're running SL? Maybe they're using up memory and/or bandwidth?

I agree with Kim. My system is not that different than yours (I have an AMD Athlon XP 2600+, 1.5 GB of RAM, and an ATI 9600 video card with 128 MB of RAM) and SL runs very, very well for me.

In fact, I often read posts from people who have serious performance issues with SL whose machines are MUCH more powerful than mine, which leads me to believe that there must be certain preference settings that create a bottleneck, or there are other problems with the system.

If you have already reformatted/reinstalled and etc., then I'm not sure what to suggest. Have you tried calling the Linden Lab tech support line?

Your configuration should be more than fast enough to run SL. As others have posted previously, the issue is likely either something that is running in the background or a network issue between you and the SL server. I realize that you tested your connection but this only measures the connection to that link and your overall connection is ok. It doesn't prove there isn't a routing issue between your machine and the SL servers. What version of Windows are you running? Please be aware that XP SP2 has a built in firewall that is enabled by default. Please provide a list of all runnning processes. It would also be beneficial to provide a traceroute to the SL server(s), but I don't know what IP address to trace. Perhaps someone else knows?
