Anybody know how many avs can be using voice, say in a group setting, at the same time?
Does voice use affect the sim in the same way as prims do or is voice being handled by separate media servers?

the max is (or was) at 48 people per session. they could of upped that though, we havent tested it since it was deployed. we have also figured out when on a very busy parcel that disabling the voice option on the parcel helped it some. and yes they are supposed to be diffrent media servers but also dont know if thts changed or not

"sane time" is a good typo. In any conference call I've ever participated in, the number of simultaneous, understandable speakers you can have is about 1.
I know that voice in SL is supposed to diminish over distance in some manner proportional to 1/r^2 like in a real space, but I've not seen how well that works in practice.
