Whenever i turn on Second Life, my itunes sound doesnt work, but the thing is, i dont even hear any SL sound. I checked the SL AUDIO/VIDEO PREFERENCES and i dont think anythings wrong. Mutes are both unchecked

tell a little bit about your computer? sounds like an issue thats not SL related since it happens in itunes too.

I have the same problem winamp, sl, and firefox all stop making sound when sl opens up. I'm running xp service pack 2 with a soundblaster audigy 2 if that helps at all.

i am also using audigy 2............ that must be it. oh well :\
i heard in another thread someone reinstalled all the audigy 2 application/plugins and creative lab related applications and checked registry and cleared them and what not....... and then reinstalled second life andit worked

try adding -noprobe at the end of the SecondLife.exe's shortcut and post back your results.

I have the same problem with the following configuration:
- HP Pavilion 503w (1.7 GHz Celeron, 1 GB RAM)
- Sound Blaster Audigy MP3 with 5.1 surround
- nVidia GeForce MX4000 PCI (was Intel Extreme 2, installed the nVidia card today; sound issue also existed with the Intel video chip)
- Bright House RoadRunner 7Mbps down/512kbps up
The speaker test in Creative Surround Mixer *DID* work while SL was running, but no other sound works (WinAMP, WMP, iTunes, system sounds, etc.). I do note that CPU utilization reaches over 80% while SL is running, so I initially thought that perhaps it was just not enough CPU cycles to support sound alongside the video.

As a follow-up to this issue, I hooked up my Griffin iMic (that I usually use with my Mac), and SL sound works through iMic but not through the Sound Blaster Audigy. This appears to be an issue with the SL client rather than my computer itself.

I am running a very strong pc...I have 2gb ram, Audigy2 Value...6mb DSL ..tested at my place and I can get like over 5mb always. Amd Dual Core @2600mhz and I have no sound. I have tried it all and have talked to others bout it and nothing seems to help...if anyone knows...plz let me know
