I logged in fine with the new update. I crashed. I try to relog and you guessed it. Its exactly the same as 1.6.4. White screening me, not responding and giving that silly message. Do they want our custom, they certainly wont get it if we cant get online.

Yup, I was able to get into the preview. However, the new update to 1.6(6) or whatever, today, still hasn't resolved my issues, and I still haven't been able to reliably log in since Friday.

I hope your rite verbena. Alot of people will probably think the same as me unfortunately. I dont no hwo the login sytem works. it has been described to me as an sand hour timer, or egg timer. Lots of space on each side, but a small space for the sand to go through. LL needs to make this small space bigger.

Great update, now my computer freezes and crashes more often while trying to login rather than just not letting me in. Glad to know my subscription is being well spent.

LL didn't say this update was going to fix the problem. If so, why did they put the release forward a day ? A) To make sure we didn't have time to find any bugs in the preview ? B) To lull us into the fake belief that this update was an important step forward ? C) To make us even more pissed off when we realize it didn't help shit ? Take your pick. _____________________

8 hours later...

no changes here too...
in one of my frustrating tentatives i entered in the preview grid. with so many clicks on the icon, i cannot be certain if i clicked the wrong icon on this try, i prefer to beleive it was my mystake. "waiting for response" this is not a good message, no usability... _____________________

LL didn't say this update was going to fix the problem. Please take another moment and (re)read the announcement thread in the Linden Forums: Linden Forums ![]() However... if you read this message by Robin Linden " Linden Lifer Robin Linden's Avatar Join Date: Nov 2002 Location: San Francisco Posts: 1,094 Log-In Problems I'm sorry people are having problems logging-in. It's not your computer. There are some fixes in the works, but they won't be deployed until the next patch (1.6.5). Until then, the best thing to do is keep trying, and wait until you're returned to the log-in screen to try again. Our apologies -- we know this is a huge problem." Many would assume that the login would have some sort of fix to the average person... which I know many.. took it as such... so you shouldn't.. make others feel... they thought out of their own imagination......... it was in the patch... Which truthfully.. when I read this.. I thought also it would have a fix, thus being reason.. they pushed one day sooner. Thank you, Z |

Update, LOL LOL LOL
05-16-2005 12:34
If anyone now want's to login or not..... DOESN'T MATTER !
I would accept a short delay, maybe also 2, 3 minutes until the database server responds, buit not NO login at all.... And an update is TO FIX MAJOR problmes FIRST - or it SHOULD be for that, not to play around with features nobody really needs ? The point is Lindens should FIX the MAJOR problems first, and not able to login IS a major problem, , not a not running shitty videos tream or any crap like THAT - no one needs this really (btw, whatis the use of 'video streaming', when no one can login, lol )...Dear Lindens, the login problem is your MOST IMPORTANT PROBLEM TO FIX NOW - or it will lose you a lot of frustrated ppl as customers, with bugs everyone in an online system CAN live, and lives with them, we all know that such a system always is a work in progress, but LOGIN not possible, ofgs, that is more than a bug, that's weird shit ! I already too think about saying byebye, I am not willing to pay high monthly rates when I even can't LOG IN! to use my account - I throw you lots of $'s in your throat every month !!! so I want to be able to use my account I pay for, and the TOS saying you 'could cancle service anytime' is no excuse - cause if you cancel your service I also not need to pay longer, but at the moment I pay, and so I have bought a damn right to use the system, and not want always be told to wait. |

I am sure loads of people are trying to connect in. I crossed my fingers and gave it shot but I continue to get the following message.
"Unable to connect. No reply from login database." I am patient and know LL is bustin' their butts to get this situated. I support SL because I have high hopes for the project despite the fact there are going to be technical difficulties. |

You know, here's the deal. Linden Labs doesn't want to have people cancel their memberships, leaving them with merely the 9.95 one time only fee. Obviously they are doing their best to fix the problem, obviously they don't want to lose droves and droves of monthly memberships. People take these sort of things personally, I understand, I DO TOO. But after a few days of it happening, I've come to the following conclusions.
1) Don't be so quick to think Lindens hate you, the paying user, or that b/c you pay they don't care about you . Like most companies and businesses, their focus will be bringing in new customers, but most companies are also highly concerned with keeping business. 2) Because they do want to keep their paying customers, rest assured, they're most likely (I say most likely b/c I am not there, so can't patrol the hallways making sure that people are not goofing off at the water coolor) working A LOT on getting this fixed. 3) I do have one issue with Linden in this whole thing (other than getting highly frustrated while trying to log in for a hour and a half at one pop), and that is their lack of quick response in forums. Also, it'd be nice if there would be something specifically written not just for new players but long term players. It'd be nice to have some sort of acknowledgement of the fact that people are still having problems even if it's something along the lines of "We thought this would work, it didn't, we're sorry, we are currently attempting to find another way to correct this issue". 4) Find things to laugh at. It helps. Last night I finally got in...and I had no sound. Now while this problem might seem minor, it is frustrating to spend all that time trying to get in to have part of the game not work. However, I was able to tp for the first time in 3 days without crashing. I laughed. I thought it was funny like I had to trade one capability for another. I don't know, just my weigh in, I guess if I had posted two days ago might have been a bit snarkier. Good luck to everyone! Kat |
