I bought a GeForce FX 5500 PCI 256mg DDR which is what my system requires/requests. I get a black screen before and after installing drivers...i tried the driver cd as well as going online to get drivers. I still get a black screen...I have tried all 3 pci slots and get the same black screen. Im thinking I got a bad card or my slots are bad....any suggestions by anyone would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if you only get a black screen when running certain apps or games, or its just generally black from power on. Firstly, I'd suggest checking the resolution that its trying to kick in at. You need to be sure your monitor can support it. The monitor has a limit to the resolution and refresh rate that it can take from a graphics card. So sometimes, it might be okay when running Windows, but turns black if your resolution settings is set too high for SL for example.

If that doesn't work, you need to test the card on another PC to find out if its really a faulty card.

Next time your system requests for something from you, maybe it could help by talking it out of it. :)
