Hi all,

well, I am having lag all the time while exploring the main grid. But I have to admit that I normally have all advanced graphic features enabled and even the draw distance set to 320.

Well, well, I hear you saying ... no surprise that you have lag!

BUT ...

Yesterday I flew over my island and this went extremely smoothly. It was a complete new experience. So I looked into the stats and gosh, what did I see? 30 FPS with all options enabled and still draw distance set to 320.

On the other hand not very many people were on the sim. Hehe ... but anyway ... I saw that it is possible indeed and please let me keep on dreaming that this could be a permanent feeling somewhere in the future!

Mel

And to be able to have all features enabled with that draw distance he would have to have a seriously good setup (high end CPU & 2 high end GPUs in SLI + a ton of ram). So right there is a dead give away.

Also, on a private island, you're only rendering one sim.

with a draw distance of 320, you're rendering your sim and a good chunk of every bordering sim, if you're on a continent.

Sure, but a private island does not mean that there is only one. See Dreamland or Cosy Island.

Anyway ... it was fun!

Hence why I said "continent". However, Cosy Island is a mere TWO sims, last I checked... and I presume you have means to keep lag-enducing things in check.
