I'm having some problems using the in world search function. I recall that that fearure had some issues a week or so back, but I thought those where fixed. I've been looking for places to go skiing. I've done searches for various combinations of Linden ski, hill, Wengen, Snow, Sports. All of my searches have come up negative. is search having problems or am I not using it properly?

No, it's not you.
"Search" has been down totally or malfunctioning for a while now just as the not being able to tp each and every time.
Unfortunately, things in sl never get repaired and repaired the correct way in a proper time frame ever. I guess they think if they did, it would break with their long standing tradition.
