I have tried many times this morning to get into SL. The farthest I have gotten is "contacting server" then the screen fades to the opening sign on page. Anyone else having this problem? TYVM.

I am having same problem. I heard there was going to be a rolling update today to help with inventory issues so maybe thats what they are doing.

I was in earlier but since a half hour ago, same thing. Stuck at Waiting for response awhile, then goes to contacting server, then fails back to Login screen. Rebooting didn't help. Any Linden word?

Problems getting in.

I was in earlier and got disconnected. Now when I go in, it says there is an update which I must download. I click download, and a small window says connecting then I get a Windoze Crash report that 9468fb5f-604f-f157-9135-b62a352f4e24.tmp.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.
At which time, SL dies and disappears.
I'm running WinXP, and I just signed up, downloaded and installed SL today. (still in orientation mode customizing my avatar)
Any clues?

I manually upgraded to 1.6.3 and can get in now... it's just much slower than it was before...

how is everyone going now with getting into SL and what is it like when you get in? Nothing is rezzing for me. Is anyone else still having this problem or is there something wrong with my internet connection? Usually everything load very fast and I have no problem finding anything in my inventory (even though it is completely disorganised!). Now I do not see things in my inventory that I know are there. My notecards will also not load, and parts of my clothing are missing.

Hey Fennec,

see my post in the Linden hotline about the SL IPS, that seems to be where the problem is occuring. If you are in the UK like I am it could be the way we connect from here that might be having problems, it seems that some people are not having this problem, so they must be connecting via a different ISP.

It is highly annoying!! I understand fully what you are going through.
