Been having seriously bizarre issues with SL lately. I'll be in the middle of doing something and then *poof* SL's gone and I'm staring at my computer desktop and the crash logger. It used to happen if I was cammed out and editing things... and I'd get the warning sound of the heads thrashing across my HD... now it just happens at random. Sometimes I'll be on for 3+ hours and everything will be fine. Other times I'll crash 3 times in 10 minutes or less. Yesterday I had to clear my cache 4 times in an hour just to get performance that wasn't stuck in a pot of glue and yes, I defrag my HD regularly. My current system: Intel 945D 3.4gHz P4 2gB RAM (kingston) Asus P5 VDC-X mobo (SiS chipset) nvidia 8400 grafix card w/ 256mb RAM Maxtor 250gB HDD Marian Marc-8 MIDI sound card (for recording work) On-board soundchip for games 'n' stuff. Got the latest drivers, etc., etc. Any suggestions?

I havnt been online last few days due to ISP issues. But today ive been getting constant crashes. im upto 8 in ~40 minutes, straight to desktop, crash logger up.
Dont know if this is a universal issue or not. If so, is it due to some server side changes?

I seldom crash on SL and for the most part only experience lag at peak times and/or busy sims with lots of scripts and avatars present. But in the last week or two I've several crashes to the desktop with the logger. No warning, no noticable degradation of performance before..........just bam, I'm at my desktop. If I have my sound on, I do get the stuttering about 2 seconds before the crash. I don't have to do anything special to make it happen either........standing doing nothing, chatting in a quiet sim, making some clothing item or just camming around. All have been the immediate things I was doing at the time of the crash.
I don't know what causes it.....but I really think it's a combination of some client problems. plus server side issues. My machine could be guilty of some of the problems I suppose........but I seriously doubt it. I have the latest drivers, defrag weekly, clear cache at log on every time I launch SL, and do not run multiple programs while running SL.
3.0 gig P4 dual core 800 FSB 1.5 gig DDR2 RAM nVidia Geforce 8600GT (latest drivers) with 256 onboard DDR RAM Western Digital 250 gig HD at 7200 rpm.......92% free space Cable connection at 6 mbs (tests out at 5.8 mbs and above consistantly) Home network through a Linksys router which I cold boot whenever I experience any slow down on SL) Linksys cable modem.........cold booted same as router.
