create another shortcuit add this to it -login firstname lastname password click and use that one, and wait..wait wait wait, dont click any error messages you get like the utter bs "Region is logging your blabla something out" it will ignore it and log you in, do not use this if you are required to download a update, and keep a spare old shortcuit cause this wont work if they change something you need to download. Either that or your firewall/virusprog noticed a change in .exe changed and blocked it and wont let you connect.

Mia, what kind of firewall are you running if any? Can you directly ping one of the simulators? If you need one to test here is my current location in Bella:
sim610.agni.lindenlab.com (69.25.105.42:12035) If you are connecting properly here (at the forums) but not through the client my guess is something is blocking the connection on your end either a software or hardware firewall, most likely software. I use Norton Internet Security Suite and even though Second Life is resgistered, with each upgrade the executable changes so it needs to be re-authoruzed.

Mia if you are sharing a network with anyone else, especially if there are two of you in SL on the same connection, you probably need to change the port settings. Also if you are sharing a connection and if your power has gone out or even flickered, or if you have powered down your modem, your inhouse ip may have changed so that will need to be corrected too.
After making sure the above is correct check the port setting on the shortcut. If it is different you need to change it to match. Also make sure whatever firewall you are running is allowing SL. I'm reasonably certain the problem is on your end.
