your not alone, packet loss has shot right up by 25% FPS has gone right down below 30% when I managed to log in SL freezes. the lag is Evan worse than before. Lag, packet loss, and rezzing problems still have not been addressed.

OP system: mac OS X
connection: cable broad band

same here - hate it

fps down to 8 (was 30 before)
lag lag and even more lag than ever before
packet loss up to 35%

I feel like best to do with this update is feed the trash with it

and - the teture scalin problem in the building editor wasn't adressed also, stll scaling tetxures does ' what it wants' producing fanatasy scaling values' when you resize an object...

thumbs down on this update

Ditto, down to ~10fps here, was 30-40fps prior to update.

Also noticed that things in my home that use llTargetOmega are rotating way faster than they should - maybe two or three times faster than normal. Perhaps that's related?

144.7% ????

What were they doing? Reposessing packets you got yesterday ????

(Mine was just as bad. TPs not working well, flying thru zones at breakneck speed not able to stop, etc....)

Thank you for Update Wednesday. I wonder if someone stuck their tongue in a socket somewhere...... :)

this sucks!!!

Im a new user. I was amazed by the idea of SL. Since they have been down I have surfed other sites that are just starting. This type of event is not good for customer retention. I hope this ends soon or at least revert to the old version.

I'm geting freezes where for a second or longer only a single frame will show but ctr shift 1 doesn't show it. It says I am geting a steady 3 fps. packet loss has goon down from over 100 to 20 on average. Worst patch I have ever been through.

More testing needed between updates
09-13-2006 17:20
MOST MMORPGs do not update software weekly. Many of them have test servers exactly like SL has and they release, bug report, update, retest, patch, and test more, etc for up to two or three months on the TEST server before releasing major updates this way to the MAIN server (adding features, radically changing certain interfaces I.E. the inventory menu, the groups functions). Then, if there is STILL a glitch, they simply do a patch or two on the released version and there's not another update for another two to three months.

LL doing this almost EVERY Wednesday is reckless and irresponsible. The fact that people run REAL businesses and make REAL money from this "game" means that in situations like this, they're crippling your ability to run your business for an entire day.. actually, it was an entire week when they botched the inventory a couple months ago.

We need more testing done and less service interuptions on the main grid. Full stop. This is ridiculous and unfair to the paying customers of Second Life.

I have said as much before. Every Wednesday, same time, same location. Nothing ever changes with the exception of how bad each update gets.

Just when you think you'll remember one update for months and month on end, due to it's destruction, another comes along.

LLABS is a diff type of company. They believe testing the client to a EXEPTABLE level then release. Along with letting its members BETA test it. In the long run it saves them money and man power along with creating a tigher user base.In some ways and its been said many time we are still in the beta stage( not really but in some sences). But wha ti don`t dont understand is why release a weekly patch? I can under a SLOW and stable client resulting but its NOT WORKING. Its stressing the users and those working in the game. I say do the beta test for a few week and then RELEASE! This current patch a little then release patch a little then release slow IS NOT WORKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, that is given the fact I still had to disable one core. It also could have been due to a threading change I made to the videocard settings... but I wasn't thinking of that :P

I'm being totally honest though, it was better, even if due only to the fact I was the only one around.

Performance issue repair
09-13-2006 17:55
From the LL Blog page:

[4:27 PM PDT/SLT] We’ve identified the cause of the severe packet loss: it has to do with avatar texture data inadvertently being sent via the wrong network. Fixes will likely take several hours while the grid is kept up, but as before, this post will be updated with new details. -Torley

So.. we should be up.. what.. 13 hours after the grid was taken down to do this "update" garbage they do every sodding week? Seriously.. more testing between updates. PLEASE!!

The issues being taken care of are bigger and worse then they think. But to have this happen during Primetime inthe game....OMG its has to be a killer issue........Everyone knows they say their little OK we found the problems bla bla bla. They have to say this because well..............You know.
