Detecting

A while back SL just went gray and stopped working for reasons i dont know. Now anyways about 15 days lateri try to redownload SL. Now whenever I open it it says "Detecting Hardware" and never opens.

Hoping someone can shed some light on the subject

Sorry to hear you are having trouble. If I were to guess, I'd say there is maybe an issue with your video card or at least its driver. I've experienced the gray death of SL once or twice myself when my video card overheated (gotta love Dell's rediculously low-circulation case designs). Since installing a nice fan directly underneath the video card, I've had no problems at all. For whatever reason, it sounds like SL stopped liking you GPU a couple weeks ago and it hasn't changed its mind. Hopefully this is not due to any physical damage. Assuming the problem is software related and not hardware related, I would recommend you download the latest driver from your video card manufacturer, completely remove your current one, and then install the new one in its place. Once that is done, uninstall and reinstall SL as well. Also, it wouldn't hurt to make sure you have the latest version of Direct-X. (All this is assuming you're running Windows.)
