Joining pieces of land

I recently bought four 512m2 of land. I want to join them all together. How can I do that? One of them is in another sim altogether, so I probably can't join that one eh?

I tried 'editing' the land and left mouse clicked on pieces, but it just seemed to break it into smaller pieces.

hmmm, go into "edit" and with the left mouse highlight and drag the square across the border of the other piece you want to join and clik "join".

You can join pieces (in title only) in the same sim into one parcel even if they are not contiguous. Just as in linking objects the entire parcel will take on name and description of the "parent".

You can't cross sim borders however.

*Helpful tip in this vein*

Before you join them, make sure none of the plots are set to return items. If you join a plot like this, you risk having all the items currently on the new big plot being returned. This could mean a lot of extra work cleaning inventory and repositioning your builds on your land.

So how exactly do you join lots not connected to one another on the same sim but to far apart to use the select box?

It can be done by going up over the two parcels and zooming out so you can see to drag a box from one parcel to another.

I'm sorry, I guess I should have been a bit more specific. What about land that may be at oppisite ends of the sim from eachother, where the zoom won't work? Is there a way to join land in that situation?

I'm pretty sure you can only join parcels of land that is next to each other because the point is to make smaller sections into one parcel.

Nope you can join land anywhere in a sim, if you can get your camera right..

Opisit ends is hard.. But if you fly high enough, have your draw distance high enough, and have your camera in the right position.. I'm sure it could be done..

Its also so you can list both lots it places/classifieds with only 1 fee, have all the settings in one place, one picture, same ban/access list...

Yes ZsuZsanna, I have joined land not adjacent to each other, up to several parcels apart in fact, so I know positively you can do it.

Zapoteth; If you say it's possible to join them that far apart I will give it a shot and I'll let you know if I succeed.

I've joined land that was not contiguous and was present at 3 of the 4 sim corners. It can be done, but it does take some practice with the camera to get the view down.

Well please feel free to share your secrets because I'm stumped!

The main problem seems to be that you get out of range not to far up and can no longer select the land. I'm only trying to do about a 7x7 (512m2 each) area and it just ain't happening. To do across a whole sim, I would say is impossible. At least going about it the normal way. I tried every angle and height and got no where. So if anyone can supply a little more insight, I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

I just achieved this by standing at ground level in the middle of the region, setting my draw distance to 512, and and hitting Control-8 several times until the whole region was in view.

I didn't know about that control 8 trick.....that solved all my problems! I was able to join a huge area with no problem using it.

Thank you very much :)
