SEcond life 1.6 bomboing out

I have loaded up Secondlife 1.6 for the firt time, set up an account and updated my video drivers as instructed. When I go to log in, the screen shows that its loading, then when it gets to the point that it is loading regions, the screen goes blank, pauses and then goes back to my desk top.

Windows XP
1.6ghz altheon
480 MB or ram
S3 graphics prosavage DDR

S3 Graphics hardware doesn't meet Second Life's system requirements and aren't compatible.
