i don't want to sound too silly, but i compiled my sourcecode using the universal option and it worked FABULOUSLY! i used the client i built all day and i swear it ran faster and i didn't crash using it once.
so the question is, what can i do with the source code? or maybe i should say is there anything i can't do with the source code? ok, there is a LOT i can't do, not being a programmer, but i just the idea of the freedom to see what it all does!
ok, anyhoo, compile the source if you are so inclined. it's fun and a great sense of accomplishment!

I had been planning on trying to and did it after reading your post. Running Debian Linux. Works good except for the slower textures using the openJPeg (known issue). I plan on taking the developer patches for testing to provide feedback as I am not a programmer.

i stopped using linux last year after i got my mac hehe. but before that i had been using it (different dists) since 1994. i am glad u are working on that! i tried to compile the 1.16 version yesterday. FAILED lol. so keep at it. maybe we could use this little thread to ask questions that "real" programmers would give us heck for! have fun!
