As an early birthday present, I received a Plantronics Pulsar 590E Bluetooth headset. Works fine with Skype, but not SL. I can hear through them (even if they seem a bit unclear), and the mic seems to be working. The little green-squares indicator in the SL preferences show that the mic is picking up my voice, but it's not broadcasting. There are no curved lines coming from my voice dot. AND sometimes my dot disappears! This never happened with my old USB Logitech headset. :/ Anybody else tried these Bluetooth things yet? Anybody else have these problems? Any thoughts or work-arounds? Oh, and if it matters, I'm on an Intel Mac. All I wanted was to not get tangled up in a cord everyday. This is a headache I did not foresee!

It works on my end, but you have to tinker a little...

I am using one of three Bluetooth headsets with SL voice at any time. A cheapie Motorola 500, a no-name Chinese knock off of a Motorola 500 and a Jabra 520. All work flawlessly after a Blutooth USB dongle software upgrade. My system uses a Broadcom based Bluetooth->USB adaptor having no integrated wireless at all. Make sure that in your Windows control panel, both input and outgoing audio are set to your "Bluetooth Hands Free" or "Wireless Headset" profile. Then select the same exactly worded device you set in your sound control panel in SL's voice client configuration wizard. Once set by the wizard, re-log into SL after using Cntrl-Q to quit (X-ing out the application just slams it shut, Control-Q seems to do a softer shutdown and saves settings) and the client viewer should launch associated to your Bloothooth set.
As I alluded to above, also check and make sure that your Bluetooth device in your PC has the latest drivers associated with it to help ease your configuration into thinking it's just got a plain old headset plugged in. Make sure that when you asssociate to your headset too, that you have access to "Audio Gateway Services" on the PC from the headset, and that the PC recognizes the headset as a universal headset input device in your bluetooth control panel. (If you have one that is) This will go miles to making sure that SL just simply "sees" your wireless set as a plain Jane audio recording/playback device as a selectable gadget.
