Help! Invisible Avatar, clothes don't work. Wrong appearance.

Hi,

For the passed two days every time I log in to SL, my avatar is invisible. It says it is downloading my clothes, but it never does and I stay invisible. Then it makes everyone see a different character, makes me as a woman. All my attachments are still there, my chain on my pants, my goatie.

Then when it did go back to normal for a little bit late last night, non of the stuff I was wearing at the time my jeans, t-shirt, my body shape would no longer work. It wouldn't let me wear them at all. I had to send them to a friend they worked for them, they sent them back to me then they would work again. I still have clothes and my body shape that doesn't work when trying to wear it.

This is very frustrating, walking around invisible and having others see you as something totally different. Relogging doesn't do anything I've tried 4 times in a row, then tried relogging at different Sims and it has no effect either, always the same, clothes are downloading, it says, but nothing ever happens and I stay invisible. And everyone else see's the wrong avatar.

I'm using a PowerMac G5 Dual 2Ghz, with OS 10.3.6, 2 Gig of RAM, ATI 9800 Pro, ATI Display Drivers 4.4.2, 23" HD flat panel display.

Most likely the solution will be to fiddle around with your Preferences settings.

The major culprit for the invisible avatar scenario is usually having Avatar Vertex Program checked. Go to the Options tab and make sure that Avatar Vertex Program is UNchecked.

Thanks but I've tried that, it has been unchecked for a while, a month or month in a half.

This all started happening shortly after 1.5.7 came out. Initially 1.5.7 worked fine, then later there was some Sims problems, sims kept going down all the time really late at night a few days ago, and crashing ever since then, I've had problems with my avatar being invisible.

I even downloaded SL again but it didn't have any effect on anything.

Is it just your avatar that's invisible, or are everyone's? When you reinstalled SL, did you uninstall it and then reinstall it, or just reinstall a new copy over the old one? If you didn't uninstall it, try that first.

The Mac version doesn't really have a installer, it's just the App in a .dmg, you just drag the App to the location you want on your computer. I've thrown away previous versions, I copied the app from the .dmg to different locations, it's still the same.

Everyone else in the world is fine, I can't see me, and everyone else when they see me, they see a female avatar.

All I see is all my attachments floating in mid air.

Have you tried clearing your cache files?

If not go to: Home/Library/Application Support/SecondLife/cache
& delete all files inside that folder.
