I am not seeing the lower elevation textures...only the high elevation texture. So my beach looks grassy, but the region estate tells me we still have sand....

Am I the only one having this issue?

I get something like that where all the ground is nothing but sand. Seems default terrain is having an issue for me.

I am also been having a problem with the ground textures. About midway though the preview (when they had the reward for the first 100 people or so to log in to the preview one night) it was fine. Then the next update to the preview broke the ground textures for me. At first I couldn't see them at all. I reported this, and a few updates later I could see the ground texture but it was not color, always grayscale. And I found if I put my terrain detail on "some" the color returns. I don't have issues with any other textures. This has been reported, however they can't reproduce the problem so I guess I am out of luck. But at least I can get in, albeit worse than before. :/

Oh...well I hope they fix it! I need to take some pictures for a classified ad...and the pictures are going to be slightly phony because of this issue....

I've been getting this. Sometimes changing terrain quality fixes it, sometimes it doesn't. I'd seen this before on entering a region but only for an instant, now it seems to stay long after all other textures have rezzed. It's really annoying to have the grass turn into what looks like dirty sand.

But I'd rather they changed the loading texture for linden trees and other phantom surfaces back to smoke first. :)

This is a serious issue actually. I've been encountering it only in my reserved work area in Hiaka for weeks now (when i had a MX4 4000) and now I'm on an FX6200.

Relogging and clearing the cache sometimes works, but not always, and the clouds are still unrendered as well. This tells me something is going on in this region(s) and I'm not about to go building or scripting in an area that has a feeble rendering source.

I've tried various setting including Network settings from 1000mb - 500mb and back, bandwith rate at default of 750 down to 450 and back up and still nothing. and yet the fps and ping are not irratic or really out of wak from what I can gather.

So if you're in the Hiaka region(s) and run into this problem bug report it please.

I think there are 2 bugs for terrain, one is on macs the texture mipmapping isnt working correctly, it will only show the highest elevation texture, im not sure if this happens on pc's too, but setting the texture detail to "some" usually fixes this.

Another bug is sometimes texture details aren't recieved from the simulator quickly enough, sometimes you can kickstart this by opening the world > region/estate menu and clicking the texture tab

Just to add... the "I only see the highest elevation texture" is a known bug and should be fixed shortly. I've heard it reported about from some PC Resis too.

Thanks everyone who sent in bug reports about this. :)
