i'm still unable to put my finger on what's causing it exactly, but i find myself crashing over and over in the same locations. for example, i'll go to a place i've set up a shop, and as soon as the shop rezzes around me, i crash. log back in, fly back there from telehub, area starts to rez...crash again. i find that if i just give up, i can usually come back a few hours later with no problems. so far i've only noticed this in areas where i have shops set up, but it could be a general vendor/texture related problem, or something else entirely. anyone else with simmilar problems?

this started after one of the 1.6 upgrade versions, though i'm not sure exactly which.
i've tried clearing my cache. doesn't seem to change anything. also, it seems that sneaking up on my shops from different directions helps. this is so strange! xD

Shadows Perhaps?

I was having strange crashes when I encountered certain textures until I turned shadows off in preferences. Might try that. Cheers and good luck! ~ Perse

I've been getting these kind of crashes too. Repeatedly some areas would crash me while others were fine. I eventually stumbled upon the idea of turning off shadows and so far I haven't crashed again. So the shadows might be it.

thanks much! i'll give that a shot. at least we have some idea what might be behind it now :P

it occurs to me that i'm using a "kill local lighting" script on the vendors in my shop locations to make them full bright but not emit light. possibly that's causing the crashes. i'll have to experiment xD

do the rest of you with this problem use local lighting?
