Hi all,
Recently upgraded most of my PC to the following:
Intel Quad E660, 4gb RAM, Asus P5K mobo running Vista 64
As always seems to be the case, everything runs wonderfully apart from SL. I can log in, and 8/10 times can spin but not move, 1/10 can walk but then can't stop, and 1/10 can walk normally.
Things are normal for about 2 minutes - fast frame rate, no lag, IM works, TP works, etc then the map goes red and although SL doesn't crash, I stop sending or receiving any traffic and am effectively logged out. Debug mode reveals constant lines of things like this 'trying to send agentupdate on unknown circuit'.
Graphics card is a 8800gts with the latest standard drivers and have also tried with the newest beta variants. I've tried with the windows firewall on & off and my NIC and router settings are the same as they have been for the last 11 months that I've been using sl for, also running on Vista 64.
VWR-2157 in the Jira seems similar but has been open for a while with no obvious end in sight and I wondered if anyone had had anything similar?
The debug messages obviously indicate network issues but my internet connection never drops (currently typing this with my latest broken SL session still running in the background).
This happens every time I try to log in, so SL is now totally and utterly useless - any thoughts welcomed.
Thanks.

Have you tried cold booting your router and modem? I've had similar soundlng problems to yours and I run XP Home wih nVidia 8600GT graphics and 1.5 gigs RAM (DDR2). I did notice that my email and browser seemed to open and run a little slower than normal, but only slightly more slowly. SL would not run at all.........or nearly not at all like you are describing. On a whim I rebooted both my router and modem even though I didn't really think they were the cause of my problems on SL since everything else seemed to be running okay. But, it worked...........SL worked like a charm and I did notice an increase in any program requiring internet access. Worth a shot.............and only takes as long as it takes to shut your computer down, unplug the router and modem, go get a cup of coffee or a bottle of beer, plug them back in and boot up your computer again. Hope it is as simple as that for you.

Not sure about the 64 bit versions but try finding and installing a driver from the 163 series (I'm using 163.69) I know that nothing in the 169 seruies seems to work at all for windlight. But 163.69 has been great for the main client and windlight for me (32 bit vista, 8800gtx)

Thanks for the replies - I've tried everything with the router but makes no difference.
I know graphics drivers play a huge part in sl but it is kinda hard to see this particular issue as a problem with those - I have tried the 163s and was running those fine until the system upgrade. I'll try them again later (running the standard client btw, not the windlight one)

have you tried bypassing the router just for testing purposes?
when the mini-map goes red, it means your disconnected. it happens occasionally, but usually its something on your end causing it, or just your ISP is really wacked out.

Well, I got a bit frustrated in the end and tried a few too many things at the same time, but for anyone with a similar problem the resolution was one of these:
1) Rolled back to previous version of network card driver 2) Changed speed setting from auto to 100mb full duplex rather than auto-sense as it's a 100/1000 card 3) Changed the network type from Public to Private in Vista - personally I'd suspect this did it but I ain't putting it back again to find out.....
Thanks for the responses.

You could try this as it fixes many problems, try to get to a low lag area,Somewhere thats free of people and a lot of objects or scripts,Once there search for an item in your inventory and do not move until your inventory completely fetches.might take a while but it has worked for some.
