Since the update that fixed the Z axis to be honored...ie, we can log back into our skypads, I have been suffering from continuous crashing.

1) I land on the pad and move. I crash.

2) I pan my camera around, no movement. I crash.

3) I tried to deleted a prim, no movement. I crash (related to the panning camera)

All crash logs are sent to LL automatically after every crash like this, but it is very annoying, especially since a lot of our building is done on skypads.

I know others have been reporting more frequent crashing, and I'm sure there are various reasons, but for me it defnately has been an issue since 1.7 and now into 1.8.

I have been keeping my cache clear, I use an ATI video card, and even though i occassionally crash on ground, its nothing like this or this frequency. it is definately related to the height some how.

Thanks for listenning.

I've had a similar problem for a while now, but at lower altitudes (200 m and up). Up until about a day or two ago, I thought it must be something in my skypark crashing me, but then I found it was happening elsewhere, too.

My crashing is definitely altitude related as well. I just didn't notice it at first because I'm rarely lower than 200m. I need to be able to work in my skybox if I'm ever going to get any work DONE.

Any word yet on what's causing this and/or how to fix/work around it? :(

Do you have ripple water option turned on??

I crash in the sky with that on, with it off I am fine...

Hope that helps, until fixed :)

I just wanted to also chime in I crash at high altitudes (was just doing so at 600 meters) with Ripple Water ON. I've turned it off and no crashes thus far--I'm going to file a bug report.

Ripple water on can sometimes crash you at certain heights, had this way way to many times to be random.

no you dont crash all the time with it on, if you start crashing up there turn it off, relog, see if that does it for you.

Done if for me about 40+ times now, just kicks you to desktop, no error.

I disabled rippling water, and can now safely stand at higher altitudes.

BUT I now crash every time I attempt to save a texture to disk, regardless of altitude.

Yay!

Easy fix?

Let SL auto disable ripple water at a certain height, hardly notice it when youre so high up anyway : p
