The thing is checked at "automatic snapshot." Which is good. But the only place to click is "new snapshot."
I did that several times, but no snapshot showed up on my hard drive.
What's more, I couldn't get the snapshot thingie to go away after that, by clicking on the X in the upper right corner. It was stuck.
What am I doing wrong?

Make sure "Save snapshot to hard drive" is selected near the top, then after you click "New Snapshot", click "Save".
Else, you can use File menu > Snapshot to Disk for direct saving. or, Ctrl-` --even faster!
Take care coco. =)
