I'm not a Mac player; sadly, my G3 is not buff enough. However, as a Mac user, I'm curious about something. Does the SL client for Mac OS X have an AppleScript dictionary? Can you write little AppleScripts to control the interface?

How do we go about getting some simple applescript message-passing to be a developmental priority for the Lindens????

I could see real world things affect SL objects, and vice-versa.
That would be a worthwhile upgrade.

platform-specific 'features' are not, and probably never will be something the lindens show interest in exploiting. They want as general and portable a code-base as they can get

I remember three was a game called clan lord for os 9. Because the it wasn't script-able. People figured out how to read packets. And made an application to interface with clan lords through the packet stream. But I would never suggest doing that with sl. It probable would get you kicked out of sl. Even if it would be cool to have your avatar be a bot for an rpg while your not on sl.

Platform-specific hooks could become quite easy to add once the UI is XML'ified, which is on LL's work list allegedly but not high in the priority queue it seems.

One wouldn't expect any direct support from LL for customized UIs of course, but that's usually fine since the support would come from external sites. LL will only need to support named triggers and actions for the XML to use, plus their own basic default files.

Keep tabs on the XML files in your client if you're interested in progress in this area.
