Vista & Xp together

hello,
since i have big problem with ati mob radeon x1300 on Vista & sl,
i was going to ibstall Xp in a disk partition.
do u think i can do it?
its a notebook.

As long as you have a big enough hard drive, I don't see why not.

You need a second partition for that. If My Computer shows a second HD drive (drive letter D) it's not a big problem as far as I can tell. Otherwise you'll need to go My Computer, Manage, Disk-Management and check if there is unpartitioned space. If yes, you'll need to create a new one, if not, you'll probably need a tool like partition magic to resize your existing partition and make space for a new one.

Then, in the XP-Installer select that new partition for the installation.


There may be caveats in this like XP overwriting the Vista boot loader. I have not done it this way around, but that's the general roadmap.


If you have Vista CDs and are willing to reinstall Vista, you can do it the other way around. Clear the disk, make two partitions, install XP on the first drive (C: ) and then Vista on the 2nd (D: ). I have done that and it worked without problem.


However, this is just a general roadmap ... no guarantees whatsoever.
