My friend (new avatar) has just started SL and obviously wants to camp.
However, it seems that she can't get into any camping areas. If she tries to TP there she will end up outside the plot, with red tape around the plot saying 'WRONG ACCESS LEVEL'.
The kind of areas I mean are like Gold Rush etc.
Does anyone know why this is, or if there are any options she needs to change etc? Thanks

Some sims only allow premium accounts. That's probably what happened here too.

No, those Status Bans aren't about if you have a Premium Account or not - just if your account has Payment Information attached, and if you've ever successfully used it. This option is set on the land by the landowner - there's bound to be places with camping chairs where the landowner had decided to let No Payment Info users in.
Obviously, Premium accounts will be Payment Info Used, as it's been used to pay for the Premium account. That flag on your account doesn't go away if you stop being Premium and drop back to normal (as long as you leave the Payment Info on file I guess).
If your friend really wants to get into areas which require Payment Info Used, the simplest way would be for her to put payment info on her account (i.e. a credit/debit card, or a Paypal account with some restrictions) and then buy a few US$ worth of L$ on the Lindex.
Plus, this exercise should nicely demonstrate to her that one McDonalds-trip's worth of US$ turns easily in to a decent handful of L$ - much more worthwhile than spending lots of time camping.
