I installed an ATI X1600 Pro - AGP and 512Meg of memory.

SL preferences won't let me select AGP and it limits me to 256Meg of memory (the correct settings are greyed out)

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I get awful FPS since the last major upgrade.

I have never seen SL use anything close to over 256MB of video ram, ever. Changing it to 512MB wont make any difference, but if you want it on add -noprobe to the end of the secondlife.exe shortcut. Please post back your results.

Please post back your results. As for the AGP option, all ATI cards have this option disabled due to driver issues.

Thank you for responding. I was about to abandon hope.

Setting -noprobe makes no change in the Preferences availability, but I am getting 30 FPS at my home location when I normally get about 15, and my bandwidth seemed to jump significantly. (I didn't record bandwidth without the switch set, so let's say the results are inconclusive at this time.)

I then went on the preview grid and I was getting uo to 49+ FPS (I think 50 is unattainable). But I still started getting freezing of all SL video periodically (with FPS about 20).

I wish LL would define what the various parameters should be so we could try and tweak our systems to achieve it. (Like, if I freeze with 20 FPS showing on the screen, what should I look for that might be a problem? Missing packets are 0. What do I do?)
