SL thinks I have the wrong card

I'm really at a loss here. I've had serious issues with fps drops for the past year now.

I'd have a normal frame rate 30-45fps for about an hour and then it drops to 1-2fps for around 5 minutes. I contacted support and they said my ATI card was not supported, even though it's clearly stated that it is.

I guess I just lived with it and took breaks whenever that happened. Then 1.8 came out. No longer did I get an hour. It was 30-45fps for 10min then 1-2fps for 5. I contacted support again, in which i finally got an answer saying all will be well with 1.9. Incorrect, as the preview grid had shown. But I waited til the update. Still the same.

I emailed back and said this, but the reply was my card is unsupported. I wrote back saying that my ATI mobility 9000 is higher then an ATI 8700. They informed me that according to my log files I have a FireMV 2400 PCI DDR x86/SSE2.

I uninstalled my driver, rebooted, ran driver cleaner, installed the newest driver. Still in "about" I see: OpenGL Renderer: FireMV 2400 PCI DDR x86/SSE2. Yet everything else on my machine says its an ATI Mobility 9000.

Can anyone think of something else to do?

Clean it up with Driver Cleaner Pro then install your drivers, if you're not using omega give them a try.

Done both. No luck.

This is a problem with mobile ATI processors, they are essentially the same core on the processor AFAIK, so it's recognizing as the new, crappy mobile chips.
