This issua only occurs when SL is running, during some times when simply doing nothing but standing, the bug seems to be completely random. 1.- With SL running other programs are open, winamp, IE, Yahoo Instant Messenger. 2.- Out of the sudden SL freezes, all graphics freeze on computer, mouse continues to respond but stops too after a few seconds. 3.- 3 things can happen here: *Computer unfreezes with a slight lag on music or graphics that is solved hitting "play" again. *Screen goes black then comes back up, making the same noise a screen does when changing resolutions, I can assume only that something "reseted" the video and that's the way it shows. *Screen goes black and monitor goes to stand by, after a few seconds computer reboots, previous times I had the reboot feature off so instead it would return a BSOD (blue screen of death) saying that the video driver entered an intinity loop.
The only error available is this: A message appears on a blue screen with error code information: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER - or - STOP: 0x100000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER_M
Microsoft suggestion is to "update" driver... I have latest nvidia drivers, i do remember seeing this problem begin to happen since version 1.7 aprox, but dismised it as my hardware problem at the time, not the case since this happens only when SL is running.
Next time it happens I'll post more information on this issue here.

I have solved something that sounds similar. My machine started with mini freezes during websurfing. SL brought this a step further, my machine stuttered, severe packet loss and after a short while a complete lockup of my machine. SL doesn't only rely only on your graphics card, instead it is a good stresstest and a machine with weakpoints fails then. In this situation, your network card and driver are important as well, as sl tends to send a rather bursty traffic not influenced by flow control of tcp, a splash of (udp) data packets is sent to your machine who needs to handle these immediately. In current other threads you might read about dsl modem connection drops, dsl router lockup etc. Well, this *seems* to me that the sim server has a bit a rude behaviour (especially their used rate controller) . I have an atheros 5212 based wlan card and their driver was well known for freezing your machine under certain hardware/software conditions. You should consider to look on the web about the chipset of your network card for freeze situations. As my wlan manufacturer stopped producing this card, I found a current driver for this chipset on the support site of another manufacturer (d-link) and since then everything worked fine. No packet losses, no more freezing after a few seconds, no more machine lockups. If this doesn't help you, well, it's a bit difficult to guess what other hardware/drivers you have that needs to be checked. Chipset drivers for instance? Regards, Leff.

Will check drivers, mine has an integrated intel pro/1000, will chekc for upgraded drivers ontheir site;don't know if that will work, yesterday the computer did freeze fora few seconds while I was just simply moving the camera around my av.
All feedback welcome though, still waiting for the biggest failure to post the BSOD message here.

You might also check for freeze with your audigy and check for probable irq sharing that might lead to problems. Open the device manager (bring up the device manager, choose view->ressource by type). Open the Interrupt (IRP) element of the tree.

Error Occurred Again! Yay!
05-16-2006 16:55
Ok, it finally happened today and here's what it said the BSOD:
"A device driver got stuck on a infinite loop"
The stop returns: 0x000000EA (0x84994DA8, 0x84B64150, 0xF7C96CBC, 0x000000001)
Saying that the problem was on: nv4_disp
Hope this helps, this only happens when SL is running and no other time and happens at random.

I have latest nvidia drivers and as my sig says it, its a geforce 6800gt And this only happens when SL is running at random times, no pattern I can discern yet.

The same thing happens to me, and I'm using a Radeon 9600 Pro with the latest drivers (i just got them today even) SL will randomly either crash, or re-boot my whole computer, and only SL is causing this problem, i've sent a crash report each time, but who knows. My only solution is to not play SL until the problem is fixed =/

Your signature doesn't show up for me. When you say the latest do you mean 84.21 or do you mean 87.08. Everyone’s opinion of "latest" differs which is why I asked for the Forceware version. Have you tried a different version? Did it do the same thing? Sometimes the newest drivers aren’t necessarily the best; there is no driver that is the "best" for everything. Give NGO drivers a try, www.ngohq.com people seem to not only get good stability but better quality with them. Both NGO and Tweak-R-Us's XTreme-G drivers are both pretty good. ATM I'm using the 87.25 betas with the Tweakerizer settings in.

No, its a "Windows has recovered from a serious error" thingy in relation to my ATI Card The trouble is I only get the error very rarely, so the only way for me to post the exact message would be to run SL so it can re-boot my computer repeatedly.
