I was wondering if anyone knew the bare minimum startup for XP so i can give that a try to solve my bluescreens and just frequent SL crashes? What services/apps can i kill to get sl to run stable? Looking for bare minimum startup basically.

Im running Athlon xp 3200, 1 gig Ram, GeForce 5900 Ultra.
New drivers all around sound and graphics.
Ive tried fiddling with graphics and network setting untill the little sliders literally broke off and fell on the floor :P

My crashes Seem related to wierdness in the networking code or sound perhaps? *shrugs*

I even put my compy in the routers DMZ to no avail.

Sent at least 200 crash reports/logs. I do hope those help fix things. I want so badly For SL to work. I want premium account but just cant do it untill i can get it running stable for longer than 5-10 minuets.

Crash reports are not individual read; they're compiled and the developers receive a list of what kinds of crashes occurred and how often. They're only read one-at-a-time if you request support. (Thankfully, that's what I'm around for.)

A couple residents have reported an issue regarding Shadows; have you tried disabling those?

Your graphics drivers appear up to date. If you recently installed them, did you have antivirus disabled, and uninstall the previous drivers first? nVidia recommends these steps to avoid corruption of your drivers. See this page for more information:

Your motherboard drivers are a good deal out of date; you might update those as well.

oh you mentioned my MoBo drivers. im assuming i can get them through the manufacturer's site? I installed the Nforce drivers on Nvidia's site just recently but perhaps those arent the actuall MOTHERBOARD drivers? Im not to in the now when it comes to working with the MoBo.

But anyway, even if this problem isint resolved, i am supremely greatfull for your help :) YOur attempt to help in a matter of hours goes far beyond any service ive gotten anywhere else :) THANK YOU :)

If it does get fixed on my end here you can be sure ill be signing up for paid account.

Seneca, are you only ever crashing in SL itself, or are you having wider stability problems? Do you know what specific make and model of motherboard you have?

Its JUST SL that crashes. Otherwise my puter seems stable. it plays doom3 and WoW for hours on end just fine.

I have the model available at home. I hope to hit Asus' site and get drivers there. Even tho from what i see the drivers are only up to 2003 as the NEWEST :(
