Just curious but is there a template for making just a texture? I want to make a stone texture. Perhaps even some wood textures.

You don't need a template--just draw it and upload it as a tga file (or some other formats work too--but tga seems to work the best). If you want it to tile, or whatnot, of course you need to take care of that when you are drawing it. All textures are just rectangles. Your preview may be stretched out of shape, but don't worry about that--you fix the proportions of the texture after you apply it to your prim. Now, if you are talking about curved surfaces, you may get some strange effects, so search the forums for "sphere texture" and such.

Thank you..No it will be a flat surface. Just want to make a stone wall and I'm not satisfied with any of the textures I found. SO I thought I would make my own..Thank you for your help.

You can always go find what you want in the real world and take a digital pic of it and upload that as your texture, a lot easier than trying to draw one.
