Is there any way to apply a texture to the inside of a hollow sphere? Or do you need to hollow out two hemispheres and do it that way?
Thanks!!!

One way is to do it with a script that applies the texture to that face (I presume it is 1).

It's just a matter of grabbing it, it can be done with some careful alt-camming.

Although it's probably easier to temporarily slice the sphere open with cut then close it back up once the texture is applied.

Jazz,

I'm sorry, i was only starting on my 2nd cup of coffee.
I'm getting better, about the multitasking..... :-)
I'll show you in person, when nobody's looking.

For anyone else, Here's how i do it,

Cut open the sphere, B= .150 E=1.000 for example
Now, choose only the inside face, and drop your texture on it.
seal it up again.

/me could use a hug right about now :-)

Applying a texture to the inside of a hollow sphere is no diferent than aplying it to any other prim face. If the sphere is actually hollow, it has a single face there, and you can texture it.

Bear in mind that both the outside and inside of a sphere will pinch the z-axis "poles" of your texture to a point, no matter what you do. So any textyre that is supposed to look fairly even has to be distorted as you approach the top and bottom edges, just like when you take a map of the full surface of the Moon and lay it out as a rectngular image.

Also, like any hollowed prim, the horizontal repeat factor is dependant on the % hollowed. If you had a sphere that was only 70% hollow, and wanted your texture to apply its full lenght horizontally at the equator of the sphere, you would apply a horizontal repeat factor of 0.70. The formula is N * (decimal version of % hollow) = Horizontal Repeat Value, where N is the desired number of visible repeats.

Easy way to texture the inside, without opening a hole or camming in:

Select the hollowed sphere with the edit tools.

Click the "Select Texture" option in the edit tools. At this point, both the inside and the outside will be selected.

Shift click the outside. Now only the inside is selected.

Apply the texture with the edit tools. You can drag a texture to the texture pane in edit to drag it to the selected, fully-enclosed surface.
