How do you create a gradient alpha texture? I am working with shadows that need a semi-transparent center with a fully transparent border.

PSP8.0

Same way you would create a regular colour gradient.

Go into your colour/texture interface. Select the gradient tab. Select a good base to start with, then click edit to configure it further.

In the gradient options interface, the lower of the two tabbed sliders allows you to do alpha gradients the same way you do colours.

I'd post a screenshot but I'm on my laptop without PSP handy.

Semi-transparent alpha

If I understand you right...you want the alpha itself to pass from transparent to semi-transparent. White is completly transparent while black is opaque...gray is semi-transparent on the alpha channel...apply a gradient in a circular pattern using those colors in the order you want the transparency to fade to the alpha channel itself. That should give you the effect I think you are looking for...

oops...editing this...I missed the fact that you were on PSP...this is how I'd have done it on Photoshop...sorry, if i misled... :o
