Hi Rex. If I'm understanding you properly, you're saying you know what you're doing in Photoshop, but you just don't know how to get your images into SL. It's done from SL's file menu at the top of the screen. Go File->Upload Image. Then navigate to the particular image you want, select it, and click okay. Depending on your connection speed, the size of the image, and how busy the server is, it will take anywhere from a couple seconds to a minute or so for the image to upload.

As for file format, use TGA. Always use 24-bit TGA if you don't need transparency, and 32-bit TGA if you do. For more on transparency, see the guide that is stickied at the top of this forum.

As for "wearing" the textures, making clothing and skins is dependant on 3 things. First is your understanding of how the templates fit on the avatar model. Second is your ability to use that understanding so you know where to put what on each template. Third is good old fashioned artistry.

If you download the full template collection from the downloads section of this site, it comes with some sample garments. Take a look at them. You'll see where the various parts of each are placed on the template so that they show up on the avatar in the right places.

You should also upload the templates to SL and make clothing out of them so you can see exactly how the templates fit on the avatar. Pay attention to how the various sections expand and contract as they wrap around the avatar in 3D space.

Oh, and if you're not sure how to make clothing inside SL, it's really easy. It's all done through the appearance editor. Right click on your avatar and select "Appearance". Then click the button for the garment you want to change, and use the interface to assign the textures you want to use. It's pretty self explanatory when you look at it, but if you need additional help, by all means come on back and ask.

Oh, and by the way, if you want to make brand new clothing, it's usually best to do it via the Create meny at the top of the inventory window before you go into appearance. Let's say you want to make a new shirt, for example. In the inventory window, go Create -> New Clothes -> New Shirt. You'll see an item called "New Shirt" appear in your inventory window. Right click it and select "Rename", to give it a unique name if you wish. Now right click it and select "Wear" to put it on.

At first your new shirt will be all white since you haven't given it a texture yet. To give it one, just right click on your avatar, select "Appearance", and then click on the button that says "Shirt". Click the field where it says "Fabric" to open the texture picker, and select whatever texture you wish to use. You'll see the shirt change instantly to the new texture. Now use the sliders to assign attributes such as sleeve lenth, collar height, etc. The sliders are self-explanatory.

That should be enough to get you started. If you have any more questions, come on back.
