Hi Again,
I have been trying unsuccessfully to make skirts, well more specifically i'm trying to make the bellydancing sort of things. Although i'd settle for skirts too. Everytimes I have it lined up perfectly on the templates, when I transfer them to the game the whole skirt is off. I've been messing with it for over a week. when I move it so that the skirt is on the in game model, its WAY off on the templates. I tried loading it this way and when I loaded it (even tho it looked right in the sl model) it was all off completely.
PLEASE help, its making me crazy, I want to make those nice Kajira silks. Thank you so much.

Hi Sanctual,
Is there any way you can post a snapshot of what’s going wrong? I think if we see the problem we can probably figure out what’s happening, If you can’t post it drop a snap on me in-world and I’ll take a look at it.
The skirt template is the most straightforward of all the templates being only two relatively flat parts so it’s hopefully an easy fix.

I would agree with Keith. We need to see some pictures here. I'm not sure what you mean by "move it so it's on the ingame model". You can't move a texture once it's been applied to an artical of clothing, so I'd like to know what you're actually trying to say.
One thing that comes to mind though, is you ARE using the actual skirt template, right? You're not trying to use the lower body template, are you? If you are using the wrong template, then that's your problem right there. The two are very different.
In any case, it's a good idea to upload all the templates as textures and then apply them to colothing so you can see exactly how they work. Make a shirt out of the upper body template. Make a pair of pants out of the lower body template. Make a skirt out of the skirt template. Etc. Once you've done that, you'll find you'll have a much easier time judging what should go where.

Also, are you using any of the better, more advanced templates provided by Chip Midnight or Robin Sojourner? They have guides with intervals marked that show where the skirt template matches up to the upper body template. (well, i haven't used Robin's yet, but I assume it does!) However, I don't remember the SL templates having those. You'll find threads about Chip's and Robin's templates here in this forum, but I know Chip's template url by heart (I've given it to SO many people!): www.slboutique.com/chipmidnight/

Yep, mine does, too, and it's here. The problem is that the skirt isn't really attached to the Avatar; it kind of floats on top of it. So, depending on the gender and Fat level of your Avatar, there is a large variation in how it fits. For instance, on the female AVs, there is a gap between the skirt and the figure all the way around. (Enough of a gap that parallax becomes important.) On the males, the skirt actually dives below the Avatar polys in the back. So it's not possible to make a skirt template that has lines that will join perfectly on all the avatars, all the time. (Or even on any avatar, ever!) The best you can do is to come "pretty close," by looking at the gender and weight of the avatar you intend to put the skirt on. It's too bad, but once again, it's one of those things that we are stuck with.
