Heyyy Oliva... well, you could always do the simple thang of hitting Print Screen, getting a good shot, and then pasting that into a new Photoshop doc. It's quick-'n'-dirty!

I am sorry Torley, lol, is there a special Print of screen feature or I would paste from the Print Preview which isnt happening. There is aswell a New Snapshot button, a copy is made but not responding in many ways for it to be usefull to me. Please, hehe, I am just a bit confused. Thank you very much, guys!

Hi Oliva
I don't know if this is it, but if the image mode is indexed colour it is usually locked.
So try the follow: On the image menu at the top, select mode -> RGB colour and see if you can now edit.

Yes... there is a global Print Screen button on most standard computer keyboards—look to the right of the Function Keys. It may be labelled "PrtScn". In SL, you can also use the Snapshot button and include UI so that your texture and other windows will show up in that, and save that to ya hard drive. Also, you said the image is "locked"... now, is it "locked" in Second Life, as in not full permissions, or is it locked as a Photoshop-format file?

If you're a mac user then there's a 'Grab' utility which does sort of the same job, but with more options and some nicer choices, including a proper save dialog which the old wintel systems didn't give you (I've not used it since windows 95 days though). It's probably tucked into your applications>utilities folder and is sort of worth moving to the dock too.
SnapzProX is an alternative (with even nicer options, including a save as .psd) and a capture desktop video, but it costs a bit as shareware.

So what you're saying is you need to lock-pick a locked pic. Say that one five times fast, hehe.
Anyway, I gotta ask, as Torley did, by "locked" do you mean you don't have permissions on it in SL so you can't download it, or do you mean you've already got it in Photoshop, but you can't edit it?
If it's the former, I can't help. There are ways to extract it, of course, regardless of permissions, but I won't tell you what they are. Sorry. You'll have to ask the creator for permission.
If it's the latter, then I'd be willing to bet it's the indexed color issue. Change the mode to RGB and it should be okay. Image -> Mode -> RGB

Hi guys and thank you so much for responding. The image was never in SL, it was made by ME in another software called GENETICA. The image IS GRB (grb mode) What else could it be, becasue I really need to edit my work in PS I use Windows ......or do you think that I should be calling the company I got the program Genetica from and askign them what could be happening when rendered picture is transfered over?

Well, I downloaded the Genetica demo. Resisting the urge to bash it too badly in case you're happy with it, I'll just say it's everything I've come to expect from Spiral Graphics. Anyway, I'm having no trouble exporting images from Genetica and bringing them into Photoshop as fully functional images. I've tried several different formats (if you can call the four formats the demo is limited to "several" and they all seem to work just fine. Let me ask you, what do you mean by "completely locked?" Are you unable to do anything at all with the image? What happens if you try to paint on it? What happens if you try to make a new layer? The reason I ask is it's perfectly normal for the background layer of an image to be locked, as indicated by small padlock icon to the far right of its name in the Layers Palette. Locked doesn't mean uneditable though. All it means is that you can't move that particular layer or change its order in the layer stack. Other than that, there's really no difference. You should still be able to paint on it, transform selected areas, etc. To unlock the background, you have to change it from a background layer to a regular layer. To do that, simply doubleclick on the word "Background" in the Layers Palette. This will bring up the New Layer Dialog. Give the layer a name (or just go with the default name, "Layer 0" and click OK. This will destroy the background layer and replace it with an exact copy as a new regular layer. Now you'll be able to move it, and the little padlock icon will be gone. So, is that what's going on, or are you truly unable to do anything at all with the image inside Photoshop? Oh, and I'm assuming when you said "GRB mode," that was a typo for RGB, right? If it actually says "GRB" in Photoshop, that's a new one on me. I'd take that as a sign that something is very wrong with your Photoshop. You might want to uninstall it and reinstall it. Also, out of curiosity, have you tried simply copying and pasting instead of exporting? In Genetica, just go File -> Copy Image, and then in Photoshop create a new image and go Edit -> Paste. That should work even if nothing else does.
