I'm trying to make a replica of this gown worn by Princess Elizabeth I: I have the 'basic' look down: The 'underskirt' part ended up being too wide since the texture was a bit iffy, and i don't have the linden to upload the new texture. The neckline isn't the way I would want either, and the sleeves aren't right. I also don't know how to make the 'trim' on the neckline either I have a primskirt builder, but I can't get the overskirt to have the 'slit' in the front so I can see the underskirt. I sent a note to teh maker of the 'script', but no reply just yet. Is there any way I can make them in game without importing any textures? Or is there some 'script' thing in the game i can get for free that will help? Thanks =3

You're going to have to make the bodice either with prims, or with a special texture you make outside of Second Life, in the Gimp or Photoshop. The sticky threads at the top of this forum have a lot of links to tutorials, and I wrote one for the Gimp that you can see at http://seshat-czeret.blogspot.com/2008/06/how-to-make-sl-clothes-in-gimp.htmlFor the prim skirt, you'll make the gap yourself by removing the panels you don't want, and angling the panels you do want. The skirt created by the skirt-making tool is just a starting point: you refine the skirt with building skills. The headdress will need to be made entirely of prims. To make sleeves longer than the sliders allow, you'll need to use prims as well. To make them the shape you want, probably sculptie-prims. The different colour on the inside of the sleeves you can simulate with fingerless gloves made either in appearance mode, or with the Gimp or Photoshop. This is a very detailed and complex project: it's not one I'd choose for a beginner. On the other hand, once you get it right, you'll have every reason to be proud of yourself.

Thanks =3 I don't plan on making the headress just yet, I want to get the main part of the dress first and then if I don't go crazy, I'll do the headress. I'll give the skirt thing a try again and see how it works I have GIMP, and I find it somewaht easy to use for the most part, so i'll check the tutoral you suggested and upload any textures when i have the linden

You might be able to enter the Preview grid, aka Beta grid, and do your test uploading there. It's worth a try. There's also some free programs you can use to pre-view clothing, see the above mentioned stickies.

You might consider not having a separate underskirt, but simply faking it with textures. Then you wouldn't have to worry about the underskirt peeking through the overskirt prims.
As for the characteristic silhouette created via the stays of the time (pair of bodies), short of invisi prims, you'll probably need to fiddle with your avatar's shape. The average buxom SL avatar really doesn't match the late renaissance notion of beauty.
