Hi all.

I have started making eyes using ps cs3. I use the linden template and use a light grey for the eye white, because I know white white does not look great.

So I upload it and everything looks great, But then I put it on my avatar and they have a yellow cast. It is all over the eye but more noticable on the white obviously.

I have not used yellow in the eye at all, So I am really confused as to why it is doing this.

Any help, tips or advice would be gratefuly received.

Thanks in advance.

Adjust the time of day, and you'll get color shifts. Just as when at sunset in RL, things illuminated by the setting sun can take on a reddish cast, light in SL at different times of day can make shifts in the colors that you make things with.

Best you can do is to check the colors at Noon, and make sure it looks right then. Check other times of day too, and go for the best average.

Also, Windlight can cause colors to be perceived differently than the older SL client shows them. Nothing you can do there, other than to test with various versions of the SL client, and go for the best average effect.

For the whites of your eyes, I'd use a very light cream color, and not grey. The whites of an eye have at least some red and yellow in their color scheme. See if you can get some close ups of real eyes to use as inspiration.

Have you adjusted with the sliders when applying the texture to the eyes in appearance mode, making the eye as light as possible? I've noticed when creating new eyes the default settings make the eyes quite dark with a yellow tinge.

also when the system bakes your eye texture it does some form of sudo shine which in combination with the "sunlight" can toss colors off

(if you havent tried you can make "riddick" eyes by using a 100% transparent texture makes chromey eyes in a instant, #1 question i used to get back in the day)

That's a fantastic tip, Osgeld. Thanks. It never even occurred to me to try that.
