Looking for Weathered/Peeling Paint Texture

Anybody seen something like this?

On a semi-related note, how do you ever find a particular texture when a certain big store makes you stand there flipping through each pack as if you have nothing better to do? I used their catalog and loved it until it was disabled. Pack sales, dropped, no doubt, and why wouldn't they since they package together some of the oddest combinations.

Presumably you're talking about TRU? The old TRU catalog was causing problems due to theft, and had to be discontinued. A more secure HUD that will allow you to search for and purchase either singles OR full bundles will be available in the next few weeks. Once it goes live, the entire store inventory will be searchable and buyable from via the HUD.

Creating and loading a system that can access over 40,000 textures while not in effect giving them away for free is a large technical challenge. No one in SL has come close to what TRU has done so far in that regard, and the new HUD should make customers like you quite happy.

If you just need a flat color that looks like it has peeling paint on it, most of our TRU artists could whip that out pretty quickly. If you are looking for a particular type of surface covered with peeling paint, look with that sort of surface item. For example, peeling paint on a wood shingled wall might be in the "Wood" section or in the "3D Build" area with wood walls. A similar peeling paint on stone or concrete would be with "Stone", or again in "3D Build".

I am sorry about hijacking thread but I am trying to figure out the proper word to even search for this technique because I wan to make my own similar texture. I am looking for tutorials on how to do that effect. I would love to figure out how to make my own chipped or weathered painted textures.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Heck if I can figure it out I will make one for whomever for free.

there are several plugins that do this, unfortunately most cost cash, but there may be some free plugings that would work...

as an idea, use multiple layer with some of lighter "lightning" effects, to get the lines, then use drop shadow on them...

several of the "urban decay" RP sims use similar testures, and may have some freebies.... I think Gibson was one I remember... had some peeling paint in the old (now gone/moved) subway section

After I asked. I did my texture search on web and I found some tutorials one is called "damaged" and another called "scratched" its geared toward metal but maybe I can use the tutorial for painted like surfaces.
I haven't tried it yet.
I would prefer whenever possible to make my own things.

yep, grundge style textures and cracked walls and peeling wallpaper is the hardest to make... in my opinion )
