I'm pretty much new to all of this 3d business, but fairly familiar with photoshop so i figure clothes, textures etc. shouldn't be beyond me. As I've read other people requesting - some way to accurately (and quickly) preview clothes would be great. I cant get Poser right now, but I came across Daz|Studio - which is a freebie (they sell content - models - and give away the tool).. Can it help me? (also for animations, poses etc.)
I don't know enough about the various formats to assess whether its going to be of any use - its cool enough though.

Daz Studio will work as a previewer for clothing and skins. Download the avatar models from the downloads page of the SL website and plug them in. The program is very buggy in its present form, and it's got more than a few non-functional features, but if all you want to do is preview clothing it'll do the job.

daz|studio supports tiff files but not the alpha channel until you render them.
