When you make a long flexy prim gown, please always include a long glitch skirt. This is because when the avatar sits, the mesh skirt is what you see, and the prims fall mostly into the chair. Pants aren't adequate for this for a number of reasons... If we're wearing the gown as members of a wedding party, pants aren't formal. If we're wearing the gown to a Gorean city, pants aren't modest. You can't go to an event like a wedding and be dancing all the time, and often you have to sit on a church pew, which means both the prims and the glitch skirt will be visible together. Gorean Free Women may kneel, more or less Japanese-style, and then the prims are in the ground. I can make my own glitch pants with the appearance sliders if I need to and have a good eye for color, and I usually do, but there's no way to make a glitch skirt that looks good; it needs to match the texture of the shirt. If anyone has concerns that the skirt will make their backside too big, that can also be adjusted with the appearance sliders, or they can just wear the glitch pants. But most wearers of a long gown will need it to remain a long gown regardless of the animation the wearer is in. Many thanks!

Hi, Brenda! You mention Gorean gowns; I make medieval/gorean freewomen's clothing and always provide an underskirt, as well as a pair of long thigh-high stockings (because the skirt has "holes" too, unless you go for the poofy-butt technique which looks terrible, imo). Actually, I'm surprised you've had this problem; most of the designers I've seen do provide either skirt or pants under the flexis. As for pants in Gor, I believe most Goreans ignore "glitch pants" because of the technical necessity you mention, and I don't think they'd be considered immodest in any case, worn under a skirt. It's only if they showed the outline of your legs (ie were worn alone on the outside) that they'd be "immodest." But that said, I just plain prefer under skirts because they're more elegant, somehow. In any case, my shop is Milady's Fancy; I'm in many of the Gorean markets and several medieval ones, with Ketora market as my home base. If you're having trouble finding flowing flexi skirts with under-garments, feel free to stop by and have a look. Cheers!

I have all types of dresses with different configurations and many times i leave out the SL mesh skirt for the sheer reason that it's just huge looking, even when you zero down your butt. You can achieve a much more slender dress look if you work without the SL skirt mesh and use the pants as the skirt base.
Of course, we could have the Mesh skirt below the butt and continue down to the ankles to provide a skirt appearance when you are sitting, but that seems redundant of simply using glitchpants-and can look funny too. Plus, there are times when the mesh skirt itself splits due to your pose.
If you do find a dress you like that you'd like a 'glitchskirt' too, try IM'ing the designer and see if they are willing to help. Of course, most long gowns are not modest enough for your Gor free women, in the first place. I only have one gown that provides enough coverage on top and will now have to go look and see if i can address underskirting for it.

I've gotten in the habit of asking for a mesh skirt if there isn't one, because I need it so I still appear to be in a dress when I sit or kneel. I actually did wear one of your modern gowns to an event at Port Cos, with a lot of veils over it. It was very Red and I just felt like wearing something simple and elegant that day. One outsider had something to say, my own city people didn't seem to mind *grins* I guess I'm bold. As to the other concern with the mesh skirts, I'm from the school of thought that says you should crank your backside sliders up on purpose (cue famous rap song here) I'll look for your shop at Ketora. Take care
