Sculpties in CS4?

Okies, I just bought a really nice fullperm sculpty. It comes with rights for reselling your own creations using it, sample textures (not sellable) and so forth... so I saved the templates and got to work on them and now I want to test it out on the sculpty before I upload it to SL.

Is there any way to open a sculpty file in CS4 for your 3D object, rather than needing a .obj?

<<PS. If not, any free programs I can use to preview textures on sculpties? CS4 blew my budget a bit >>

You can't open the TGA file you bought inworld and see it in Photoshop CS4 as an object. I don't know if there are any programs that can do this, but you could upload both to the beta grid if you just want to preview it for free.

If you've got full perms on the sculpt map, download it from SL, and then use a program that supports sculpty import, such as Blender or Wings, to recreate the geometry. From there, if you want to bring it into Photoshop for texturing, simply export the geometry as an OBJ file.

okies thanksies. Wings did good, though the mesh is a bit angular whereas the scultpy is smooth. But that's an issue I have with CS4 I think. Smooth meshes~ I get rough angles all over and odd shading on them.

You could also try a free (Windows) program called SculptySpace which lets you preview a sculpty with a texture applied.
