I am a designer in sl and still learning and looking for some tips on shading and seams. I have an issue getting the outer edge seams of clothing to look more 3d and real instead of just blurring. Is there an edge trick to make it look more lifelike edges? ANd in shading to make things look more 3d as well. Like jeans and tanks? How can I make them look more lifelike? I take any tips I can get just getting back in swing of things and hand drawing what I can. SO any tips, tricks, or websites or tools would be so greatly appreciated. I have asked several designers for help but seems none want to share their tricks..lol.

Hi Dragonfly!

There are a lot of great tips and such in the stickies at the top of this forum.

Unless you have a specific question about, say, a seam that has stitching or looks folded or whatnot, that's where I would start.

Shading and highlights depend upon what type of fabric you are looking to emulate. For example: for satin-like fabrics I use overlay or screen (depending on the look I'm going for) with varying degrees of opacity with white paint then Gaussian blur to build up the "shine".

Cotton or linen fabrics get few layers and less opacity in the white.

Again, if you have a specific question in mind I will certainly try to assist you.

I cannot help you with jeans as I don't make them. I buy all of mine :)
