Textures for spheres

I'm doing a build that has a half-dome on top, trying to get a Moorish type of look. For the dome I'm using a sphere cut in half, but I'm having a hard time texturing it. I wondered if anyone knew where I might find some nice textures that were designed for spheres and/or half-spheres. I've considered making my own and read some of the posts, but I confess I'm still not clear on how to (easily) create a texture that plays nicely around spheres. I'm thinking of something like stained glass, but I don't really want to spend hours on it for just this one build.

Any pointers would be appreciated, either to pre-created textures or ways to do this in PS.

Thanks,

you might also try a 'Polarize' effect to "map' the texture in effect much like a flattened globe would be.
