So I understand that if I want to sell just the toe nail, I'd make it a sock right? But how would I make the toes go outward like a real foot. Like, big toes inward, and as they expand left anf right, they get smaller. Whenever I make it a sock, it goes from left to right, making it look like I have 2 left or 2 right feet. Also, is there a better template to make them on...maybe one that outlines prefered areas where each toe should be placed? I'd like to start this soon, hopefully somebody can help me out. =)

Take a look at the lowerbody_color.tga file in your SecondLife\character folder. It shows you exactly where the toenails are on the base skin.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by all the inward/outward stuff. Want to explain? _____________________

There's not really any definitive template for placement of toes and nails. You can follow the default, as Chosen has pointed out, or you can design your own foot for the nails. The default file in the client character folder leaves a lot to be desired. The wireframe on the UV layout outlines a basic flipper for a single foot that gets mirrored to the right from the left (i.e. you design only the left foot). Almost all skins will have their own unique toe and nail placement.
I have freely given out my FGX™ 2.0 fingernail and toenail alphas to encourage people to experiment and have fun designing their own nails for my skins. You're welcome to use them yourself for whatever project you have in the pipeline. Download here: http://www.secondskinlabs.com/Downloads/downloads2.html |
