This isn't strictly speaking a texture question but it is one that I hope a goods maker/seller will be able to answer for me...
I have a number of items for sale in my new shop - many at the same price. I get notification when one sells but just that someone has paid me, for example, L$100 - no mention of who or what they bought. Is there some setting I am missing or a script that is commonly used for this purpose? One thing I sell is eyes, I have about 20 unique* eyes that all sell for the same price and obviously I would like to keep a record of which ones are popular...
Thanks

I had the same problem, so I found a vendor that will send you a message, no matter where you are, when something sells telling you who bought what AND where (incase you have the vendor in multiple locations). If you're offline it even sends you an email, without even having to set anything up. I'll send you a copy of it.

Thanks Mandy - just what I need! It's so detailed, amazing, I have a number of freebies (masks and tshirts) and every one of those is recorded there - I had no idea they were so popular! The masks are freebies for our regular masquerade balls/events and quite a few people seem to take every one rather than just pick one for the event (which they are more than welcome to do of course) I'll do a more detailed spreadsheet analysis when I have time - fascinating... Thanks for your prompt reply! Cat xxx

If either of you would like a free dress or anything (very limited stock at moment) just gimme an IM in world for location. I wont post it here - bad form I'm sure to advertise in here Cat xxx

Heh. You successuful business owners are so jaded. For me and I think Cat, every sale is a thrill. I love seeing that blue notice.
Also, Cat you may want to get a visitor counter. I got a freebie one that gives me a count and a list of visitors. I can post the location of a store to pick one up if you are interested.
Happy selling, and I wish you every success.

Oh I love to see sales; I check my transactions history regularly. What I don't want is pop-up messages flying in my face at random.
*thinks back to the days before my browser had a pop-up blocker*

I've got a visitor counter thanks...

Thanks Syvia, very kind, but I do have a visitor counter. It's quite busy logging visitors to my club (joint owned with partner who does most of the running) - the shop is in the same building so too close to differentiate. We are ony running events during GMT evenings at the moment but it is quite surprising how many random visitors we get 'out of hours' - lots of noobies too...
Thanks for your good wishes - it is exciting to get those sale notifications and a real buzz selling my first few dresses on SLExchange too!
All good fun.
I wish there was a forum for us makers/sellers so that we could discuss all aspects of making, advertising, selling etc. Instead of being split over half a dozen - what do people think?

For those of you who like to track your sales, see your most popular item, your most profitable outlet, or just like graphs and charts (hehe) check out the Second Life Sales Tracker http://www.slsalestracker.com/You can also search for sales by item name, region, vendor name or client name, which is much easier then wading through the defaul second life transaction history if your looking for something in particular. I love this tool! And its free to use while in beta. Zibmit Vindor is the creator and is most helpful.

Cat x I asked for a Forum like this at one time, and was told by LL and other posters to go find one of the 3rd-party web site forums. To date, I have yet to find a good one...SLB or SLE have one, but I wasn't overly fond of it. I've been considering starting one of my own, just haven't found the time to sit down and focus on it. Do you think it'd be useful? - Rachel Darling, Milady's Fancy

I apologize in advance if this is something you have already thought of or do ..if not...read on
If you own a copy of Excel or get one of the freebie clones off the web, its really easy to track your sales using only that and the SL transaction history.
Just export it and paste it into a spreadsheet - a few simple formula's or add a chart if graphical's your thing. Personally I use the Data / Autofilter function.
You don't have to be a software guru or buy anything extra - in game or out.
PS: Make sure you name each of your boxes set for sale uniquely. Here's an example of what I've seen done, for those with items in several sims for sale. SimNameorAbbreviation - Store Name - Product Name - Color / Style (add number sequence if needed) (ie: NewbieIsland - Newbs R Us - Newburninator - Red - Flame)
Then when you paste your transaction into excel you can sort on description and you have a list of where you have the most sales. Or if you are more interested in sorting on item description simply put the sim name or abbreviation at the end of the name on the box.
The reason for using the sim name at all (since its in the transaction history too) is that you have instant feedback in game without tabbing out to the transaction history.
