Hi,

Does anyone out there have a full set of skin textures that i could have full permission copies of. I dont want anyones masterpiece i just want something that gives me an idea of how and where the shadows etc go. even a failed attempt would help.

I know this is like asking someone to give away what may have taken hours to produce and i fully appreciate the effort it takes to do having spent hours trying and failing.

IM me inworld if you can assist.

Thanks in advance

These two very comprehensive and easy to use template sets:

/109/b2/73040/1.html

/109/72/40762/1.html

will be far more valuable to you for figuring out positioning and shading than a failed attempt at a skin could ever be. They are worth their weight in gold lindens, but fabulously free instead. Chip and Robin are heros.

Your SecondLife\character dir. actually has some image files that have shading/depth that begin with "bump". They make a good base/guide for shading - especially the feet which is a godsend if you're like me and spent days on end trying to figure out where to put the toes. XD

One of my first male skins, with the saturation lowered to zero. I reworked the contrast of the shading afterwards but was already satisfied with the position of everything (eyebrows, fingernails etc.). They were done using Chip Midnight's templates, which were a great help:

The face, beard, outer arms and thighs got more details later and the upper chest shading was reworked quite a bit, but you should get the basic idea where shading makes sense and where plain color with a little grain is sufficient (at least in my opinion).
I never did any female skins; the only reason I created male ones was the lack of different beard and body hair styles as well as hair colors on the SL skin market.

Thanks Aleister :)

Thats is just what i was looking for.

Also a big thankyou to all other replies. I already use the Chip and Robin Templates and am eternally gratefull to them both.

I will now go and experiment with the textures and see what i can do to mess them up.lol
