Ok I used to use PS 6 or somewhere in that neighborhood, it was given to me by someone, and my harddrive crashed. I had zero problems figuring out alpha channels for transparency, but then my hard drive crashed.... hurricaine ruined my backup disks... *cries*

No more PS, I bought the Photoshop Elements 4.0 and I cant seem to even find alpha channels in it, or how to properly do transparencies that will actually work. I used the magic extractor thing to take all the background out, it looked transparent(white/grey block background), and i saved as a targa, but when i went to upload to SL it simply had the plain white background. *CRY* I want my old harddrive back.

My hard head was used to the "other way" and I cant seem to find a "free" guide to tell how to do this in PSE 4 to save my life. Don't want to have to buy the books for 1 simple issue. Bleh.

Anyway if anyone knows what my lil pea brain is talking about and can help I would appreciate it. lol

Hi
Elements has alphas, not the easiest to find though.
First step is to select your area using magic wand or what ever you want. Once you have the are selected you want to be trans, click on selection, save, to alpha. And there ya have it.

If you still have a question you can IM me in world.

Good luck

There's a tutorial for PSE 3 and 4 in the transparency guide, stickied at the top of this forum. PSE has no channels palette, so its not exactly intuitive to figure out how to do alphas, but it is very simple. Read they guide, and if you have any questions, let me know.
