Okay, I had a customer today bring to my attention that my hair bases make their eyebrows turn white, and low and behold, they do. I never noticed since my eyebrows are painted on my skin... didn't even occur to me. She said she gets white hair from everyone else and it never changes her eyebrow color to white, but mine does. I thought this was impossible? If the color dials in appearance are turned to white (which they HAVE to be if you make your own hair texture and expect it to be the color you created it), then there's no way to get around the white eyebrows other than using a skin with painted eyebrows..... right? Is there a big secret I don't know about yet? If so, please fill me in! Well, only one of my hairstyles uses the SL avatar's base hair... the rest are entirely prims on a bald head. I intend on making that one into all prims too, after this. I am still curious though. I just don't see how someone can get a white hair base (sl avatar's hair is white) and the eyebrows remain black... without using a skin on the face...

If you're using a custom textured base, you can't adjust the color slider without messing up the hair on the head, as they both change at the same time. Yes, the sliders are on white by default. She says and thinks that other people somehow sell her white hair with the eyebrows remaining black, and she is using the SL default skin.
I'd love to hear from some hair designers what color you have your default hairbase set to on the sliders, and if you've run into this complaint before.
Pic 1 is how that hair comes by default. Pic 2 is how it looks if you change the color slider.

Just a thought - You might consider designing hair styles that don't rely heavily on mixing with the default avatar hair. That would make the eyebrow problem a non issue. Another problem with Prim based textures mixing with avatar based textures is seen when SL's lighting strikes these surfaces. There is a huge difference in the way these surfaces react to the lighting. This is made even worse by turning off "Avatar Vertices" in Preferences and turning on "Lighting Effects". I'm not an official hair designer (Yet ), but these are some of the things I consider when looking at buying Prim hair designs.

Yes, once that eyebrow issue was brought to me, I've decided to make the base for that one out of prims and just not box SL hair bases with the wigs anymore since they're not necessary.
