movie screen texture problem

I am trying to make a movie player for my land.
I make the prim, change the texture on one side to my unique texture - Movie Texture - which I made and uploaded.
I change the texture on the media tab in "about land" to the same.
I click play and the movie plays no problem.

when I click stop, however, the texture doesn't go back to the texture I uploaded and applied, instead it becomes plain black with a grey stripe across the bottom.
It hasn't only changed on the prim - when I open "Movie Texture" from my inventory, it also now appears as the black with grey stripe, and the same if I look in the about land - media tab.
The UUID is unchanged.

I relog and the texture is back how it should be, but play - stop repeats the problem.
I try using a different texture and the same thing happens.
I make a completely new movie player - same thing happens
clearing cache makes no difference.
I have also tried activating and deactivating "play streamed movies" in preferences, changing the texture back and forth in "about land" and removing and replacing the stream url.
same thing every time.

Is this just the way it works, and whatever movie player I am watching anywhere will do this on play - stop?
Is it a problem with a solution?
Or is it a bug?

please help

thanks, just voted.
I can't see this getting fixed soon, though - it only has 7 votes.
Any workarounds?
I see there is a scripting hack on the jira page:

From: someone
I found a little hack to work with this. I found passing an empty string to the list argument PARCEL_MEDIA_COMMAND_URL basicaly turns streaming video off, "restoring" the texture that was replaced.

but I am not sure what to do with this as I am not using a script anywhere

If you aren't using a script at all, then you can if I understand it right create on with that one line.
