I am a NOOB!
Stone Cold!
So please convert all suggestions and instruction to " Dextar Dummy Noobie Speak" ver 1.01

Ok I have PSP 9 and I understand how to move pics around and such but I am not sure how to Place a pic on a clothing template and make it center up. ( Think Concert T-shirt in FL)

I have been working with Alpha channels and such but this escapes me how to make it work right.

The finished product I am looking for is a plain t-shirt with a Real life image on it and maybe some text as well.

Is there a walk through or how to somewhere or maybe it is just a simple matter I am missing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and I will be deeply in your debt and promise to dance naked at your next wedding. :D

Thanks in advance.

I will help you if you undertake NOT to dance naked at my wedding lol. I am a nearly newb at PSP8, but I will offer what help I can :-).

There are temples provided by SL available on the website, and templates provided by Chip Midnight available from a link which is on this forum here:
/109/72/40762/1.html

There are separate templates for each type of clothing. You'll want the upper template.

You need to make a layer to work on, first, which automatically appears above the other layers. You can follow the outline of the body and arms for making the background garment. I am finding that although the templates seem to have seam allowances, I need to over shoot the outline a bit to ensure there are no nasty gaps. Sometimes these can't be seen on the preview either.

Seems to me there are two ways of putting something on the front of the T-shirt. You could drop an image which has a transparent surrounding onto the background on the same layer, or you could make a new layer.

To get a transparent surrounding, open up the pic in PSP, promote the image to a layer, then use the magic wand to select the background. If you then cut the background, you should be left with your image and a transparent background - depending upon how complex it is. You may have to select in several places to get rid of the background altogether, or you might decide it is all to much hassle and match the background on the image you have with the background colour of the t-shirt.

Centring the image up is a question of lining it up with the templates...Chip's have lines marked on them to show where the centre is.

Once you are happy with what you have, you need to hide all the guides by clicking in the eyes next to each layer, until you only have the work layer or layers visible. I would then merge the layers if you have more than one, make the mask for any transparency and then save the t-shirt design.

What I haven't discovered yet is how you put things across women's breasts without getting some element of distortion...also the middle of skirts. So if anyone has the answer to that question, please enlighten me!
Good luck

Because the native SL clothing tool tends to leave jagged or lossy edges, I always try to make the sleeves, neck and hemline of a shirt exactly where I want them and then pull the SL-made shirt inside the perimeter to hide it.

It does not matter if you go over the lines anywhere else on the template (sides, shoulders). Alternatively, one could make one layer completely filled with the solid color and then another layer with the mask you want.

Always delete the template layers(s) and then save as a 32-bit TGA file.

If all he wants is to make a simple tshirt, the easiest way is to find a black texture which you position on a new layer on the template, then save it as 32-bit TGA, upload, and create a new black Tshirt. You don't even have to mess with painting over a template as long as the logo is centered on the upper piece.

If you have a white logo, it would also work with white. However I found that any other RGB color is invariably going to be 1 or 2 shades off from what you can match with and it's better to just paint the shirt before uploading.

That's a problem for a lot of us, Cali. I see very well-done outfits all the time that have distortion problems around the edges of the breast. Mostly that's a problem because the breasts are a 3D structure and we're painting a 2D pattern over them. Making attachment prims that compensate for the geometry would be the best way around it, I think, but you're into an area where you run into fresh, new problems then.
